“England could be the next step,” — Mohammed on Chukwueze leaving AC Milan

Samuel Chukwueze’s future at AC Milan remains up in the air as the Nigerian winger looks to clarify the rumours surrounding his next move. Despite putting in a decent shift during pre-season, the 25-year-old still isn’t sure whether he’ll be staying on with the Rossoneri or heading elsewhere, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Former Super Eagles forward Mohammed Gambo has particularly expressed his excitement about the possibility of Chukwueze making a switch to England, believing the Premier League could suit him perfectly.

“When I read the news about the reported interest in Samuel, I was very happy and excited,” Mohammed exclusively told Footy-Africa. “Maybe I’m a bit biased towards the Premier League, but I love seeing Nigerians play there or in La Liga. And since he’s already done well in Spain, England could be the next step.”

“He’s fast, tricky, and has great technical ability, which will help him a lot in the Premier League. If he joins Fulham, he won’t have any trouble settling in – Bassey and Iwobi are already there to help. It’s unfortunate that things didn’t quite click for him at AC Milan, but that doesn’t mean he was a bad signing. I still believe he has more to offer, and the Premier League is a place where his talents can really shine. I believe he’ll do well in England, and I hope the rumours are true and he gets the move,” he added.

Who’s Next? Nigerian Stars on the Radar of Top European Clubs

Chukwueze joined Milan from Spanish side Villarreal ahead of the 2023/24 season. He signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, but he’s yet to truly settle in the fashion capital of Italy.

Last season, he managed 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring just three goals and providing two assists – numbers that fell short of the club’s expectations.

With the summer transfer window wide open, there were whispers of a possible return to Villarreal, but that trail seems to have gone cold.

Now, Premier League side Fulham – home to fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey – are reportedly interested in the tricky winger. Turkish giants Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş are also said to be monitoring his situation.
