Footy-Africa can exclusively report that several European clubs are monitoring highly-rated Nigerian youngster Abuchi Lawrence, with interest growing ahead of a potential move abroad.
The 17-year-old forward, who plays for Sporting Lagos Football Academy, has emerged as one of the country’s brightest attacking prospects after an impressive campaign at youth level.
Lawrence, who is capable of playing as a striker or winger, finished the season as the academy’s leading scorer with 23 goals and five assists in 22 appearances, attracting attention from scouts across Europe.
Sources close to Sporting Lagos have told Footy-Africa that clubs from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Spain have all made enquiries about the teenager, with discussions already taking place over possible opportunities.
Footy-Africa understands that Lawrence is expected to travel to Europe for trials in the near future as interest in his signature continues to grow.
However, the youngster’s immediate focus remains on international duty after earning a call-up to Nigeria’s Under-17 training camp.
Lawrence is currently hoping to secure a place in the Golden Eaglets squad for the WAFU B U17 Championship, which also serves as the qualifying tournament for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
