As football heads into another frantic transfer window cycle, several Ghanaian internationals are drawing attention with their contracts set to run down in the coming months.

From rising prospects to established national-team pillars, these five players could soon find themselves at the centre of major transfer discussions.

Here’s a deep dive into the Black Stars who look set to enter free agency within the next six to seven months.

Ibrahim Osman – Auxerre (France)

Ibrahim Osman’s rise at Auxerre has been steady, and his potential remains undeniable. The 20-year-old joined the French side in June 2025 and has since made 12 appearances, contributing two assists while showcasing his pace and creativity on the flanks.

With his contract expiring on June 30, 2026, the winger, currently valued at €10 million by Transfermarkt, could become one of the most sought-after free agents next summer.

Auxerre are expected to push for an extension, but with bigger clubs monitoring him, his decision could shape the next big chapter of his career.

Gideon Mensah – Ljungskile SK (Sweden)

Left-back Gideon Mensah has enjoyed a stable spell in Sweden since joining Ljungskile SK in March 2025. His contract, however, is set to run out sooner than most, December 31, 2025, making him available as early as the end of the year.

The former Bordeaux and Red Bull Salzburg defender has matured into a dependable full-back, and his approaching free-agent status is likely to alert top clubs in Scandinavia and beyond. At 27, Mensah is entering his prime years, and his next move might be crucial for reigniting his Black Stars prospects.

Felix Afena-Gyan – Amed SK (Turkey)

Felix Afena-Gyan’s career has taken another interesting turn during his loan spell at Turkish side Amed SK. The young attacker, on loan from Cremonese, has played 13 matches so far, registering one goal and one assist.

His loan deal ends on June 30, 2026, the same day his parent-club contract with Cremonese expires, meaning he will become a free agent immediately afterward.

Still only 21, Afena-Gyan will likely attract significant attention when he hits the market. His raw potential, Champions League pedigree, and versatility make him one of the most intriguing Ghanaian players heading into free agency.

Jordan Ayew – Leicester City (England)

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew continues to defy age with his tireless performances in the Premier League. After joining Leicester City, he has featured in 16 games this season, scoring twice and providing one assist.

However, his contract runs out on June 30, 2026, putting the experienced forward on track for potential free agency.

At 34, Ayew’s future remains a talking point, whether he will extend his stay in England, seek a fresh challenge abroad, or consider winding down his career. His leadership and experience still make him a valuable asset to any club.

Thomas Partey – Villareal

Thomas Partey’s summer switch from Arsenal revitalised his playing time, and he has quickly become a pivotal figure at his Villareal, making 16 appearances so far this season.

His current deal ends on June 30, 2026, though an option for an additional year exists. Whether the club triggers the extension will depend on his fitness levels, consistency, and the club’s long-term sporting project.

At 34, Partey remains one of the most technically gifted midfielders in African football, and any uncertainty around his future will surely draw interest from Europe, Saudi Arabia, and MLS.
