Four promising Nigerian footballers have arrived in the Czech Republic to begin trial spells with top-flight sides Slavia Prague and Slovan Liberec, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The players Azuka Alatan, Daniel Vowero, Shedrack Bitrus and Lucky Shekwodiza were identified by scouts during a series of grassroots tournaments in Nigeria, including the Supremacy Cup, Jagaban Cup and The Creative Championship League.
Footy-Africa gathered that all four prospects are expected to spend up to eight weeks training and featuring in closed-door matches, as both clubs assess them for potential professional contracts.
Defender Alatan, 19, represents one of the standout names in the group. The left-back, who plays for 36 Lion, is a member of Nigeriaβs Flying Eagles at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup and was scouted during the Jagaban Cup.
Midfielder Daniel Vowero, from Beyond Limits Football Academy, caught attention at the Supremacy Cup with his versatility and eye for goal, while attacking midfielder Shedrack Bitrus of Triple 44 was another product of the Jagaban Cup scouting network.
Forward Lucky Shekwodiza, currently with Sporting Lagos, completes the quartet after impressing at The Creative Championship League.
Sources disclosed to Footy-Africa that the players will initially train with the youth and B teams of both Slavia Prague and Slovan Liberec, providing them with exposure to European football structures and coaching methods.
The group arrived in the Czech Republic on Wednesday and are scheduled to begin their trial programmes on Friday, with hopes of securing long-term deals.
