Nigerian midfield prospect Mustapha Olajide has completed a move to Portuguese side SC Braga, Footy-Africa understands.
The 19-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Primeira Liga club and will initially feature for Braga’s Under-23 team. Olajide joined Braga from Portuguese fifth-division side CA Macedo de Cavaleiros, having progressed through Nigeria’s AA AZTEC Football Academy.
His agent, Prince Ademola Shennowo, who is also the founder of AA AZTEC Football Academy, expressed confidence in the midfielder’s future in Portugal.
“We are delighted to complete this transfer and credit everyone involved,” Shennowo exclusively told Footy-Africa.
“Beyond his footballing ability, Mustapha is known for his discipline, patience and strong character. His journey has not been easy, but his perseverance and belief have brought him this far.”
Shennowo explained further that Olajide was first identified through the AZTEC Scouting Programme in Ibadan during the 2023–24 cycle, following a referral by Olamide Osaile.
“His performances caught the attention of a European scout, prompting close monitoring of his development and in 2024, AZTEC travelled to Portugal with 16 players for a 30-day training tour, where Olajide impressed with his work rate and professionalism. He was later invited back to Portugal for further development and education,” he explained
“After returning briefly to Nigeria, Olajide signed a professional contract with CA Macedo de Cavaleiros, where his performances earned him recognition as one of the standout players in the region and attracted interest from several European-linked scouts.
In December, football agency SFERICO partnered with 1st G2G Football Agency to manage the player’s next step. Following a three-day trial, Olajide secured a move to Braga, marking a significant step in his young career,” Shennowo concluded.
