Galatasaray are lining up January bids for Nigeria internationals Raphael Onyedika and Ademola Lookman as they look to reinforce their squad ahead of a push for domestic and European success.

The Turkish champions spent €75m to bring Victor Osimhen from Napoli in the summer and remain three points clear at the top of the Super Lig. But with ambitions to make an impact in next season’s Champions League, Okan Buruk’s side are targeting added depth once the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations concludes.

Raphael Onyedika attracting interest from across Europe

Galatasaray made an approach for Club Brugge midfielder Onyedika during the summer, and the 24-year-old was reportedly open to the move. However, negotiations stalled when the two clubs failed to agree on a fee.

Brugge are understood to be holding out for €25m, while Gala are preparing a two-part proposal: a €5m loan with an obligation to buy for €15m at the end of next season. Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham have also shown interest in the midfielder.

The Istanbul club have also renewed their pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, the 2024 CAF Player of the Year. Reports in Italy claim both Galatasaray and rivals Fenerbahçe have stepped up their efforts, although Atalanta’s valuation has so far proved a stumbling block.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Onyedika and Lookman now sit at the top of Galatasaray’s transfer shortlist. However, any January deal is considered unlikely at this stage, despite both players being open to a move.
