Galatasaray vs Rizespor Match Preview

Galatasaray continued their impressive start to the season, making it three wins from three with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Kayserispor on matchday three. They have won the last three Turkish League titles and are hoping to win a fourth straight title for only the second time in the league’s history.

The Lions began their campaign with a 3-0 win over Gaziantep, before recording another 3-0 success over Faith Karagumruk in their second match of the season. They have set the early pace in the title challenge and have scored 10 goals in three matches without reply. Their eyes will be firmly set on winning the league title unbeaten, after losing just once in the previous campaign.

Rizespor, on the other hand, are without a win in the league this season with one draw and one defeat in two matches so far. They were defeated 3-0 at home by Goztepe in their first match of the new season, before recording a goalless stalemate at Alanyaspor in their second league match.

The clash against Istanbul Basaksehir on Matchday 3 was postponed due to their opponent’s European commitments, giving them an extra week of rest ahead of the tough trip to face the defending champions.

Galatasaray vs Rizespor Head-to-Head Record

  • 17.02.2025 – Rizespor 1-2 Galatasaray
  • 14.09.2024 – Galatasaray 5-0 Rizespor

  • 28.10.2023 – Rizespor 0-1 Galatasaray
  • 27.02.2022 – Galatasaray 4-2 Rizespor

Galatasaray have dominated this matchup in recent times and have won all the last five meetings between both sides. The Lions have also won their last three matches at home against Rizespor.

Recent Form: Galatasaray

Galatasaray have enjoyed a hugely impressive form and are currently on a 19-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. They have won all three matches in the league this season and are yet to concede a goal.

The Lions have made their home stadium a fortress and have not lost any of their last 20 matches at the Rams Park, including claiming victories in their last six.

Recent Form: Rizespor

Despite ending the previous campaign with three successive victories, Rizespor are without a win in their last four matches in all competitions.

They have won just once in their last five outings on the road in the league, and were held to a scoreless draw against Alanyaspor in their first away match this season.

Player to Watch: Victor Osimhen

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen netted his first goal of the season in the win over Kayserispor and will hope to add to his tally with a first career goal against Rizespor. The 26-year-old’s aerial threat and impressive link up play with teammates will be vital if Galatasaray are to get a result in the match.
