Super Eagles newboy George Ilenikhena in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has revealed what would make his debut for Nigeria even more special ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Guinea-Bissau.
The 20-year-old earned his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles after being included in Eric Chelle’s 24-man squad for Nigeria’s first two AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Ilenikhena made an impressive debut in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Madagascar in their opening qualifier, scoring the equaliser after Ehsan Kari had given the visitors the lead earlier in the game.
The young forward’s goal helped Nigeria get back into the match before Moses Usor completed the comeback with the winning goal, giving the Super Eagles a positive start to their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Ilenikhena was asked what would make his debut a great one for Nigeria and the Al Ittihad forward revealed that winning both games and scoring in each of them would be the perfect way to begin his Super Eagles career.
“Winning the two matches and scoring goals in all of them”, Ilenikhena said.
After scoring on his debut against Madagascar, Ilenikhena is now in contention for another start when Nigeria take on Guinea-Bissau in their second AFCON 2027 qualifying match on Tuesday.
Chelle’s side will face Guinea-Bissau and will be hoping to secure another win in order to set the early pace in Group L.
