Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is once again making headlines, with reports suggesting that German champions Bayern Munich are preparing a bid for the Nigerian. The move has drawn praise from former Nigeria U-17 World Cup winner Sambo Choji, who talking exclusively with Footy-Africa expressed belief that joining Bayern could take Lookman’s game to another level.
Choji, who spent most of his playing career in Germany, told Footy-Africa that the Bundesliga champions would provide the perfect platform for the Nigerian star.
“I was excited when I read the news, and I am always excited anytime a Nigerian player goes to the Bundesliga because Germany is like a second home to me,” Choji said in the exclusive interview with Footy-Africa. Lookman will definitely become a better player at Bayern as he will be surrounded by world-class players which he will benefit from.”
“Also, there is always the opportunity to win trophies with the biggest team in Germany and if he goes there, he will definitely help them win trophies and titles. In all, I see it as a very good move and I hope that a deal can be done so that he can play for the biggest club in Germany. I cannot remember any Super Eagles player who played for them. I hope the deal gets done,” he added.
The 27-year-old has been locked in a standoff with his club Atalanta, as he looks to engineer a move away from Bergamo despite having a year left on his contract. Inter Milan had a bid turned down, with Atalanta insisting on not selling him to a team in the Serie A.
Lookman, who has already resumed pre-season training with Atalanta, now appears to be edging closer to a switch to Bavaria.
Bayern have turned their attention to the Nigerian after a deal for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson collapsed at the last minute after Liam Delap suffered an injury in Chelsea’s win over Fulham.

According to reports, the Bundesliga giants are proposing a loan deal with a sizeable fee and an option to buy at a significant price if they are satisfied with Lookman’s output at the end of the season.
Lookman has been one of Serie A’s standout performers over the past two seasons.
The Nigerian forward scored 20 goals and registered seven assists in 40 appearances last term, helping Atalanta secure a third-place finish in Serie A and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
