Former Super Eagles forward Dominic Iorfa, who played in Turkey with Galatasaray, in the exclusive interview with Footy-Africa stated that Kelechi Iheanacho would obviously benefit from a potential move to the Turkish Super Lig.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-africa, Iorfa insisted that the former Manchester City striker needs regular first-team football to rediscover his form.

β€œTurkey will be a nice place for him to go and show what he can do because I believe he still has a lot in him,” Iorfa told Footy-Africa. β€œHe has not been stable for a while, and I think that in Turkey, especially with Besiktas, he will finally get back among the goals.

β€œWith Wilfred Ndidi already there and other Nigerians playing in Turkey, he will have no shortage of company, which will help him settle in quickly. If the move materialises, I am sure the Besiktas fans will love him. He is a skilful player who can score and create goals. I hope he gets the move and returns to regular first-team football again.”

Pumas UNAM in talks with Sevilla over Iheanacho’s transfer

Following Wilfred Ndidi’s move to Besiktas last week, Iheanacho would no doubt relish the prospect of linking up with his compatriot at the Istanbul club.

It has been a difficult 12 months for Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla from Leicester City last season in a bid to revive his career.

His time in Spain, however, did not go as planned. Iheanacho featured in only 11 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals, all of which came in the Copa del Rey.

In January, he was loaned to Championship side Middlesbrough for the second half of the 2024/25 season, but that move also failed to bring a turnaround.

He played 15 matches for Boro, finding the net just once, before returning to Sevilla at the end of the campaign.

The 28-year-old has been heavily involved in Sevilla’s pre-season preparations, but his long-term future at the club remains uncertain. A switch to Turkey could offer him a fresh start, with Besiktas reportedly keen to sign him as they aim to challenge Galatasaray for the league title.
