After helping SC Austria Lustenau win the Austrian 2. Liga title with a 2-1 victory over Amstetten on the final Matchday on Thursday, Zambian striker Jack Kalichi Lahne’s future at the club remains uncertain despite securing promotion to the top tier, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.

Sources close to the player told Footy-Africa that Lustenau delayed opening contract negotiations, leaving Lahne open to considering offers from other clubs:

“He is a free player now. Lustenau gambled with the situation, to be honest. So he is free to negotiate with other clubs.”

When asked about his future, Lahne said he is currently focused on celebrating the first trophy of his career.

“Yes, my contract is ending. For the summer, I just want to enjoy the summer because I’ve never had a summer as a champion,” he told-Footy Africa.

Lahne added that Austria Lustenau might want him to stay, but for now the talks stalled.

The 24-year-old scored the opening goal of the match as Lustenau sealed promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga. Lahne finished the season as the club’s top scorer, registering nine goals in 28 appearances on the road to the league title.

With his contract set to expire on 30 June 2026, Lahne is expected to become a free agent next month.

Meanwhile, Lahne will be hoping for a return to the Chipolopolo squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which begin in September.

Zambia were drawn in Group I alongside Algeria, Togo and Burundi.

The Lusaka-born striker, who previously represented Sweden at youth level, made his senior debut for Zambia in November 2025 as a substitute against South Africa before scoring his first international goal on his full debut against Angola.
