Nigerian striker Josh Maja in on the Valencia CF’s watch-list as Carlos Corberán continues to explore options to improve the current squad in a search of a goalscorer, El Gol Digital reports.
26-year-old forward joined West Bromwich Albion in 2023 from FC Girondins Bordeaux on a free transfer. Maja is one of the Baggies standouts, so he could make the jump to another league.
Moreover, the Nigerian is very familiar with Corberán as the Spanish manager worked at West Bromwich Albion from 2022 to 2024 before moving to Spain.
According to the report, Corberán’s main goal before the new season in La Liga starts is to improve the team’s attacking potential as he wants to acquire a key figure, that could be Josh Maja.
Corberán has already recommended the signing of Maja to Valencia CF for his current plan. For the Mestalla team, an offensive addition is needed, and the player being talked about as an interesting goalscorer. If that’s the case, it’ll only be a matter of time before Valencia makes an official offer.
One of the premises that has given strength to the deal has to do with his contract status. He has a contract until the summer of 2026, so he’ll be free to talk to other clubs in January. The English side has to renew or negotiate soon if they don’t want him to leave for free.
Last season Maja registered 12 goals and two assists across 26 games in Championship. His Transfermarkt value is estimated at around €10.00 million.
