Ghanaian midfielder Yussif Saidu in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has expressed his delight after completing a permanent move to Spanish side Real Zaragoza, describing the switch as a major step in his young career.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Segunda División club on loan from Dansoman XI Wise, has signed a five-year contract after Zaragoza exercised the purchase option in his deal following an impressive start to the season.

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, Saidu said the decision to stay in Zaragoza was an easy one after how quickly he settled at the club.

“From the first day I arrived here, I felt at home. The players, the coaches, the fans, everyone made me feel part of something special,” he said. “When the club told me they wanted to make it permanent, I didn’t have to think twice. This is where I want to grow and keep improving.”

Saidu’s path to the first team has been one of patience and steady progress. He spent last season honing his craft with Deportivo Aragón and the club’s youth setup before breaking into the senior squad late in the campaign. His standout performances during pre-season earned him the trust of the technical team, and he has since featured regularly in Zaragoza’s midfield this term.

Reflecting on his journey, the Ghanaian youngster said he sees his rise as motivation to keep working harder.

“Nothing was handed to me, I had to earn every opportunity,” Saidu told Footy-Africa. “There were tough moments, especially last season, but I stayed focused and learned from my teammates. Now I just want to repay the faith the club has shown in me by giving everything on the pitch.”

With Zaragoza aiming for promotion to La Liga, Saidu says his goal is to contribute consistently and establish himself among the best young players in Spain.

“This is just the beginning for me,” he declared. “I want to become an important player here and help the team fight for our objectives. My dream is to play in La Liga with Zaragoza and to represent Ghana at the highest level, that’s what keeps me pushing every day.”

Real Zaragoza confirmed the deal through an official statement, expressing their delight at securing Saidu’s long-term services and praising his professionalism and potential. The club described him as “a young talent with a bright future who embodies the values of work, discipline, and ambition.”

Saidu has already made eight league appearances this season, winning praise for his energy, passing range, and maturity beyond his years, attributes that have quickly made him a fan favourite at La Romareda.
