Super Eagles forward Moses Simon in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa expressed delight with the team’s performance following their 4-0 win over Mozambique.

Nigeria continued their impressive form at the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco with another brilliant display in their Round of 16 victory over the Mambas at the Fez Stadium on Monday night.

Ademola Lookman opened scoring inside the first 20 minutes with a brilliant strike after good work in the buildup by Alex Iwobi and Akor Adams. Victor Osimhen doubled the tally moments after, before the striker added his second of the game after the restart to put Nigeria 3-0 up. The impressive Adams added a fourth late in the game to seal another comfortable result for the tournament favourites.

Speaking to Footy-Africa after the match, Moses Simon expressed disappointment on not getting on the scoresheet after coming on, but was excited as the team marched on to the next round.

“Yes, of course, I want to score, but the most important thing is the clean sheet and the three points that put us there. Of course, we will keep working hard for the next stage”, the Paris FC winger admitted.

Nigeria will face the winner of the Round of 16 clash between Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the quarterfinals, scheduled to take place next Saturday.

When asked about his preferred opponent in the quarterfinals, the 30-year-old said he believes the Super Eagles can overcome either of the two nations.

“Anyone, we are equal to the task”, Moses Simon concluded.
