Zambian football legend Kenneth Malitoli in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa expressed belief that the Chipolopolo Boys have a strong chance of progressing beyond the group stage at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Malitoli, who scored one of the goals in Zambia’s 4-0 thrashing of Mali in the 1994 AFCON semi-finals, says the current squad possesses enough attacking quality to trouble any team in the competition but must improve defensively.
“They defended well against Mali, but they still looked a bit shaky at the back. That’s my worry. In attack they are okay and just need to be clinical,” Malitoli exclusively told Footy Africa.

Looking ahead to Zambia’s clash against Comoros, Malitoli believes the Chipolopolo have the edge but cautioned that the Islanders should not be underestimated.
“Comoros played very well against the hosts Morocco. We need to be very careful, even though we are the favourites to win this game,” he stated.
Zambia will face Comoros on Friday at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca. Comoros are coming off a 2-0 defeat to Morocco, while Zambia opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Mali.
