“Lots of Clubs Have Shown Interest” – Black Stars Forward Jerry Afriyie on Next Move

Ghanaian forward Jerry Afriyie has revealed that he has received interest from several clubs and could possibly be playing for a different team next season, as per Footy-Africa.

The 18-year-old joined Spanish side Lugo on loan from Al-Qadsiah last season, scoring two goals in seven league matches.

With the young striker still in the early stages of his development, his parent club and management are exploring the best environment for his growth.

“I think there are a lot of clubs showing interest. As of now, nothing is finalized, so I can’t say this club or that club. But we are in talks with several clubs, so I think I’ll be moving to a different team,” Afriyie told Footy-Africa.

The former Thoughts FC man was recently named the Odartey Lamptey Future Star at the just-ended Ghana Football Awards—an honour given to the best young player under the age of 21.

He expressed delight after receiving the award.

“It means a lot to me because this is my first time receiving such an award, and it was something I prayed for. I feel truly amazed. I’m very happy to receive it, and I think I’m going to sleep well,” he said.

Jerry Afriyie scored on his debut for the Black Stars during a loss against Niger in late 2024.
