Ghana international Nicholas Opoku is taking his time before deciding on his next club, with Turkey remaining his preferred destination despite interest from Erzurumspor and Romanian champions FCSB, sources have confirmed to Footy-Africa.
The 27-year-old centre-back is a free agent after his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Kasฤฑmpaลa expired at the end of last season, bringing an end to his two-year spell at the club.
Sources told Footy-Africa.com that Erzurumspor have included Opoku on their shortlist of defensive targets. The Turkish side are currently pursuing other options but are expected to move for the Ghanaian if they fail to secure their primary targets.
FCSB have also expressed concrete interest in the defender as they look to reinforce their backline ahead of the new campaign.
Despite attracting attention from multiple clubs, Opoku is in no rush to make a decision over his future. Sources indicate the former Berekum Chelsea defender would prefer to remain in Turkey, where he has established himself after two seasons with Kasฤฑmpaลa.
With his experience in the Turkish Super Lig and as a Black Stars international, Opoku remains an attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced central defender without having to pay a transfer fee. His next move is expected to be decided in the coming weeks.
