Nigeria vs Rwanda Match Preview
Nigeria have found themselves in a tough position after a rocky start to their qualifying campaign. Despite the appointment of former Mali head coach Eric Chelle in January, they have only won once and are currently six points behind Group C leaders South Africa, with four rounds of fixtures remaining.
The Super Eagles began their campaign with successive 1-1 results against Lesotho, Zimbabwe and South Africa, before suffering a 2-1 defeat at Benin Republic. They recorded their first win in March, a 2-0 away win at Rwanda but dropped points once again following another 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe. They must win their remaining fixtures to stand a chance of securing a return to the FIFA World Cup, after missing out on the 2022 edition.
Rwanda, on the other hand, are seeking to reach the World Cup for the first time in their history. They currently occupy the second position in Group C with eight points, just a point above Nigeria who sit fourth, having won twice, drawn twice and lost on two occasions.
The Amavubi began their campaign with a goalless draw against Zimbabwe and recorded a first win on Matchday two against South Africa. They suffered a first qualifying defeat, going down 1-0 to Benin Republic in their third group game, before recording another 1-0 win over Lesotho. Their last two matches ended in a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria and a 1-1 draw against Lesotho in March.

Recent Form: Nigeria
The Super Eagles boast an impressive record in their recent matches, having tasted just one defeat in their last 13 matches. The defeat however, came against Rwanda in an African Cup of Nations qualifying match last November.
Nigeria have also have a formidable home record and have tasted just one defeat at home in their last seven matches.
Recent Form: Rwanda
Rwanda are currently on a four-game winless run and have only won three of their last 10 international outings.
The Amavubi must also improve on a poor away record which has seen them win just one of their last seven matches on the road, although the win came in their last trip to Nigeria.
Player to Watch: Christantus Uche (Nigeria)
The 22-year-old forward made his debut for the Super Eagles in May against Jamaica and scored the decisive penalty kick to lead Nigeria to victory in the Unity Cup.
Christanus Uche will be eager to make an impact against the Amavubi, as his pace and quality on the ball can help Nigeria unlock a stubborn Rwanda defense.
