Two young Nigerian footballers, Usman Emmanuel Inalegwu and Longji Aaron, have begun trial spells with Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgårdens IF as they look to impress the club’s coaching staff, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The pair, who are from Ikonnekt Football Academy in Nigeria, trained at the club’s Kaknäs training ground on Monday, with Djurgården confirming their arrival in a statement.
Inalegwu is a left-footed centre-back, while Aaron plays as a striker, giving the Swedish club technical crew an opportunity to assess the two prospects in different areas of the pitch.
A source familiar with the arrangement told Footy-Africa that the current agreement is for a trial period expected to last around one week.
The source added that the players officially began their trial on Monday and are scheduled to train with both Djurgården’s first team and second team during their stay.
Further discussions could take place after the trial, depending on how the players perform and the club’s assessment of their potential.
The visit provides both Nigerians with an opportunity to experience the club’s training environment and demonstrate their abilities to the coaching staff.
No permanent deal has been announced, with the immediate focus on the trial and Djurgården’s evaluation of the two players.
For Inalegwu and Aaron, the opportunity represents a chance to take an important step in their development as they seek to make an impression in European football.
