Following weeks of negotiations and back and forths, Nigerian attacker Akinkunmi Amoo‘s move from Shanghai Jiading Huilong to Croatian Second Division outfit NK Dugopolje FC has been called off by the latter, Footy-Africa has exclusively confirmed.
Shanghai Jiading Huilong and Dugopolje had been locked in talks with the latter interested in signing Amoo for three years. However, after failing to reach an agreement on the fees, they decided to end their interest. Dugopolje wanted to pay β¬310,000 for the player whose contract expires in 2027, but the Chinese club demanded β¬450,000.
His representatives, CIA Sports Group, have exclusively confirmed to Footy-Africa that the 23-year-old will stay at Shanghai Jiading Huilong and see out his contract, as Dugopolje could not match the demands of his parent club.
βThe deal looked likely to happen after Dugopolje agreed personal terms with Amoo. But, they failed to match the β¬450,000 asking price from Shanghai Jiading Huilong, as they could only raise β¬310,000. At this point, the deal is completely off and he’ll stay in China next season,β the source exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa in an interview.
At Shanghai Jiading Huilong last season, the winger played 14 times, scoring twice and assisting three times. Previously at Omonia in a six-month spell, the 23-year-old played six games across the league and the Cyprus Cup. In the past, while at Danish powerhouse FC Copenhagen, he played four senior team games over two seasons. He has also previously played for Swedish side Hammarby IF.
Meanwhile, Amoo, whose TransferMarket valuation is estimated at β¬250,000, has yet to play a senior international game for Nigeria. However, he was part of the Nigeria U17 team that reached the Round of 16 of the 2019 U17 World Cup in Brazil, before getting eliminated by Netherlands.
