Nottingham Forest and Brighton are monitoring Atalanta midfielder Honest Ahanor following the 17-year-old’s breakout start to the Serie A season, according to Sport Witness.

Ahanor, who joined Atalanta from Genoa during the summer, has quickly forced his way into Gian Piero Gasperini’s senior squad, making seven league appearances in the 2025/26 campaign. The teenager has also featured in the Champions League, appearing against Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge as Atalanta continue to lean on emerging talent from their highly regarded youth system.

His rapid progress has reportedly alerted several Premier League clubs, with Forest and Brighton among those keeping a close eye on his development. Both sides have established recruitment models centred on identifying high-upside prospects from across Europe—Brighton in particular have gained a reputation for targeting young players from Serie A and Ligue 1, while Forest have increasingly invested in developing players with long-term resale value.

Ahanor’s rise follows a familiar pattern for Atalanta, whose academy has produced the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Franck Kessié and Alessandro Bastoni in recent years. Although the Italian club are known for giving young players first-team opportunities, they have also been willing to sell at the right moment, often commanding significant fees.

With Ahanor still in the early stages of his professional career, any approach from England is likely to depend on his continued involvement in both Serie A and European competition over the coming months. However, interest in the midfielder is expected to grow if he maintains his current trajectory.
