Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe is on his way to Ligue 1 side FC Metz, with all paperwork now finalized for his €3 million transfer from Swedish club IF Elfsborg, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal. The deal also includes an additional €1 million in performance-based add-ons, and Yegbe is expected to be unveiled by Metz in the coming days once final media obligations are wrapped up.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a senior representative from Yegbe’s agency AIT Football confirmed the deal.

“Everything is signed and sealed. Terry has worked incredibly hard over the past two seasons, and this move is a huge step in his career. Metz have shown serious ambition, and he is ready to repay that faith. Expect him to make an immediate impact in Ligue 1,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Metz to close Terry Yegbe’s deal for €3 million

The 24-year-old, who stands at an imposing 1.95m, has been identified as a pivotal addition to Metz’s defensive ranks as the French outfit fight to climb off the foot of the Ligue 1 table. Yegbe will arrive in France having quickly built a reputation as one of the Swedish Allsvenskan’s standout centre-backs over the past year, following his move from Finnish side SJK Seinajoki to Elfsborg.

A modern, ball-playing defender, Yegbe couples aerial dominance with impressive composure in possession. He gained invaluable continental exposure last season, featuring in high-profile European ties against Tottenham Hotspur, Athletic Bilbao, and OGC Nice. This term, he has already made 18 league appearances, chipping in with one goal and an assist to further showcase his value.

For Metz, Yegbe’s arrival is a statement of intent, a bid to tighten their porous backline and inject leadership into their survival fight. For Yegbe, this move represents a leap onto a bigger European stage and a golden opportunity to cement his place with the Ghana national team.
