Despite reports of interest, newly promoted French Ligue 1 side Paris FC have yet to initiate negotiations with either Moses Simon or FC Nantes over a possible move this summer, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The Nigerian winger has attracted attention from various teams across Europe, with several reports suggesting that Paris FC are leading the race and that an agreement is close between the parties involved. However, the player’s camp has disputed these claims.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a source at CAA Base Limited revealed that despite significant interest from across Europe, there has been no contact so far regarding the player, whose contract is set to expire in June next year.
“It’s no surprise that Moses (Simon) is linked to different teams, given the kind of season he’s had at Nantes. But no team has submitted an offer or made contact with us or with Nantes. Plus, he’s happy at the club and in no rush to force a move or anything like that. Paris FC’s financial power is significant, which might explain the rumors, but there’s been no contact — and a deal certainly isn’t close, as some have claimed,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.
Simon impressed in the most recent campaign, netting eight goals and providing 10 assists in just 33 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. In his six seasons at Nantes, he has played 201 games, scoring 37 goals and registering 40 assists.
The speedster joined Nantes from Spanish La Liga side Levante, where he spent one season. The 29-year-old, who is currently valued at €12 million on Transfermarkt, has also featured for KAA Gent in Belgium and AS Trenčín in Slovakia.
For the Nigerian senior national team, the Super Eagles, Simon is one of the most experienced players in the current squad, having earned 80 caps, scored 10 goals, and provided 13 assists.
