Senegal will be aiming to record a win in their first match under new head coach Patrick Vieira, who assumed the role after the departure of Pape Thiaw. The Lions of Teranga won the 2025 AFCON tournament initially, defeating Morocco in the final via a lone goal from Pape Gueye.
However, after an appeal, they were stripped of the title following their walk-off in the final and Morocco were awarded the trophy instead. The 2021 champions will now be hoping to book their place in next year’s tournament in a group that also includes Sudan and Ethiopia.

Mozambique, meanwhile, are aiming to qualify fora seventh edition of the AFCON tournament and a third consecutive edition. In 2025, they recorded their first win at the tournament after defeating Gabon 3-2 in a group stage match, which also saw them qualify for the knockout rounds for the first time in their history. However, their journey was ended by Nigeria in the Round of 16, after the Super Eagles recorded a dominant 4-0 win.
