Nigerian forward Ehije Ukaki has completed a move to English club Sheffield United from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv.

The 20-year-old joins the Blades for an undisclosed fee and has signed a contract until 2027, with an option to extend for a further two years.

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, the young striker expressed his excitement about embarking on a new adventure in a different league.

โ€œJoining Sheffield United was a last-minute decision. I had offers from a Spanish club and other teams who had shown interest since the January transfer window,โ€ Ehije said. โ€œThe deal came through last night. My agent and I just decided to go ahead with it as the transfer window was nearing closure because of the Club World Cup.โ€

Ehije played a key role in Botev Plovdivโ€™s Bulgarian Cup triumph and was instrumental in their Europa League qualification. In the recently concluded 2024/25 season, the Nigerian forward scored six goals in 28 appearances in the Bulgarian Parva Liga.

He becomes the second Nigerian to move from Botev Plovdiv to Sheffield United, following in the footsteps of compatriot Christian Nwachukwu, who made the same move last season. The Nigerian duo are part of a growing list of players scouted and transferred abroad by Nigerian football agent Paul Ojo Omamomo.
