Russian giants Spartak Moscow are closely monitoring Ugandan international Aziz Kayondo, with the defender emerging as a potential transfer target in what remains a developing story, Footy-Africa understands.

The 23-year-old left-back, who currently plays for Czech top-flight side Slovan Liberec, has attracted interest from the Russian Premier League outfit following his steady rise in European football.

While reports have linked Spartak with a move for the Uganda Cranes defender, no formal offer has yet to be submitted to either the player or his club at this stage. Sources indicate that the Russian side is still assessing the situation as they explore possible reinforcements ahead of the new season.

Kayondo’s growing reputation has made him one of Uganda’s most valuable football exports. According to Transfermarkt, he is currently valued at €1 million, the highest market valuation among Ugandan players.

The Kalungu-born defender has enjoyed a positive spell with Slovan Liberec, where his performances in the Czech top division have continued to attract attention from clubs across Europe. Comfortable in both defensive and attacking phases, the left-footed full-back has developed into a reliable option on the flank for both club and country.

Although details regarding Spartak’s level of interest remain limited, sources suggest the Russian club have been tracking the player’s progress as they evaluate potential transfer targets. No discussions over a transfer fee have been reported, and negotiations between the clubs have not yet commenced.

A move to Spartak Moscow would represent a significant step in Kayondo’s career, offering him the opportunity to compete in one of Eastern Europe’s most high-profile leagues while further elevating his standing on the international stage.
