Danish top-flight side Randers FC and Egyptian Premier League outfit Ismaily SC are scrambling to sign Ghanaian goal poacher and left winger Stephen Amankona from Berekum Chelsea FC, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.
The 25-year-old, whose contract will expire in about six months (January 2026), has decided against signing fresh terms with Berekum Chelsea. He is determined to exit the club in this summer window and has consequently enlisted the services of a new agency, Golden Gate Group.
A source at Golden Gate Group has confirmed that both Randers and Ismaily have inquired about Amankona’s contract situation at Berekum Chelsea. The club has slapped an €87,000 fee as compensation for the six months remaining before letting him depart
“Ismaily SC inquired first midway through last week, before Randers came up, as they also want to net the player. The negotiations are ongoing with both teams, and depending on the nature of the project, Stephen (Amankona) will make a decision. He wants a team that will improve his overall game, so he’s taking his time—it’s not just about the money,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.
In the concluded campaign at Berekum Chelsea, the player—whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €175,000—scored 18 goals in 29 domestic matches. However, it’s his 37 goals in 58 games during his time at the club that have stood out the most. He has been the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League for two successive seasons.
During his initial stint at Berekum Chelsea between 2016 and 2020, he made 57 appearances and netted 21 goals. In between his two spells at the club, he featured for Asante Kotoko across one-and-a-half seasons, where he netted seven times in 15 matches.
Meanwhile, internationally, Amankona has secured two competitive caps for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, scoring once—with both appearances coming last year in the qualifiers for the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
