Footy-Africa can exclusively report that Super Eagles goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal is at the epicenter of major transfer rumours, with clubs across the continent racing to secure his signature following the expiration of his contract with Shooting Stars.

Footy-Africa gathered that the highly rated shot-stopper has emerged as a prime target for Angolan champions Petro de Luanda (Atlético de Luanda) and Sierra Leonean giants FC Kallon.

Lawal is currently a free agent after a stellar campaign with Shooting Stars, where his commanding performances guided the Ibadan-based club to a third-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). His heroics between the lines ensured the club’s qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Footy-Africa understands that while Shooting Stars are eager to keep their star man and have already held contract extension talks, both parties are yet to find common ground. With negotiations stalled, Lawal is reportedly keeping his options open as international and domestic offers pile up.

A move to Sierra Leone could see Lawal join FC Kallon, an ambitious club owned by former Inter Milan and Monaco forward Mohamed Kallon, who are said to be tracking the keeper closely. However, the allure of continental football with Angolan heavyweights Petro de Luanda presents a formidable alternative.

The battle for Lawal’s signature is also heating up on home soil. NPFL champions Rangers International and rivals Plateau United are both monitoring the situation, ready to pounce if the international goalkeeper decides to remain in Nigeria.

Lawal, whose stock has risen dramatically after representing Nigeria at the last African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament, holds all the cards in a transfer saga that looks set to dominate the West African off-season.
