Bundesliga side Hamburger SV could land Nigerian international Igoh Ogbu on a loan deal, with internal talks between the German club and Slavia Prague held, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Interestingly, the 25-year-old centre-back has just put pen to paper on a fresh contract with the Czech giants till 2027, reaffirming his value to the club. However, sources confirm that this has not stopped negotiations from progressing as both Slavia and Hamburg explore a loan arrangement with an option to buy.
Internal discussions between the two clubs have been ongoing in recent days, and optimism is growing that an agreement could be finalized in the coming hours.
Why Igoh Ogbu Rejected Big-Money Offers to Stay at Slavia Prague
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a source from Aneke Player Management Group, which represents Ogbu, confirmed the latest development:
“Igoh has recently signed a new deal with Slavia because the club values him highly, but at the same time, there have been positive talks with Hamburg regarding a loan move. Both parties are working towards a solution that benefits everyone, and we could see progress very soon. For Igoh, the Bundesliga would be an exciting new challenge.”
Ogbu, capped three times for Nigeria, has been a pillar in Slavia Prague’s defence since arriving from Lillestrøm in 2023.
His consistency in domestic and European competitions has drawn interest from clubs across Europe, with Hamburg now emerging as frontrunners for his signature.
