Ugandan international midfielder Titus Ssematimba is on the verge of completing a move to Kenyan Premier League side Nairobi City Stars from Uganda Premier League outfit NEC FC, Footy-Africa exclusively understands.
The crafty playmaker is expected to make the switch during the January transfer window, just five months after linking up with NEC, as City Stars step up their pursuit to bolster midfield options for the second half of the season. Talks between the parties have progressed positively, with the player open to a new challenge across the border.
Confirming the growing interest, a source at Ssematimba’s representatives, Prosper Sports Agency, spoke exclusively to Footy-Africa:
“There is concrete interest from Nairobi City Stars and discussions are ongoing with all the relevant parties,” the source revealed.
Titus is a player with proven quality and experience at both club and international level, and naturally such profiles attract attention. While he joined NEC recently, opportunities like this are part of football, and if all conditions are aligned, a move in January is very possible. For now, we are handling talks professionally and in the best interest of the player.”
Ssematimba’s career path has been one of steady rise and resilience. He previously featured for Wakiso Giants and Kitara FC, and also enjoyed a brief loan spell with Al Dahra in the United Arab Emirates’ third tier at the start of last year.
His early promise was honed at Black Star Masanafu FC and St. Lawrence University, where he impressed in the Kampala Regional League and the University Football League respectively. On the international scene, Ssematimba has represented Uganda at multiple levels, turning out for the Hippos (U-20), the CHAN national team, and earning two senior caps with the Uganda Cranes.
