The Bundesliga is Germany’s top-flight football league and has continued to provide the avenue for African footballers to showcase their talents.
Over the years, many African stars have rose to prominence in the league with title-winning performances, helping their clubs achieve domestic success.
From legendary defender Samuel Kuffour to former Bayern Munich striker Eric Choupo-Moting, this list highlights the five most decorated African footballers in the history of the German Bundesliga.
Samuel Kuffour (6 titles)
Ghanaian legend Samuel Kuffour won six Bundesliga titles at powerhouses Bayern Munich during his playing career, ranking him as the most decorated African footballer in the league’s history.
The defender began his youth career at Torino, before moving to Germany, where he cemented his status as an African great.
Kuffour spent 12 year at Bayern Munich and despite initial struggles in his early days at the club, he went on to make over 170 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarians, winning six titles including three in a row between 1998 and 2001.

Eric Choupo-Moting (3 titles)
Cameroon striker Eric Choupo-Moting is the second name on this, having won three league titles during his time at Bayern Munich.
The 36-year-old first played in the Bundesliga with Hamburger SV, before joining Mainz and then Schalke.
Choupo-Moting then completed a return to Germany with Bayern Munich in 2020, where he was part of the squad that won three consecutive league titles between 2020 and 2023. He left the club in 2024 and currently plies his trade at New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer.
Bouna Sarr (3 titles)
Senegal defender Bouna Sarr also won three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich, placing him third on this list.
The 33-year-old moved to the club in 2020 after impressing at French side Olympique Marseille, but struggled for minutes due to the high level of competition in the squad.
Sarr also won three consecutive titles between 2020 and 2023, but left the club in 2024 after managing just 16 appearances in four seasons.

Kwasi Wriedt (3 titles)
Ghana forward Kwasi Wriedt is placed as the fourth name on this list, having also won two Bundesliga titles for Bayern Munich.
The 31-year-old played for the club’s reserve team, before he was promoted to the senior team in 2017.
He made only a few appearances for the Bavarians, but won three consecutive titles between 2017 and 2020.
Medhi Benatia (2 titles)
Former Moroccan defender Medhi Benatia completes this list with two Bundesliga titles during his time at Bayern Munich between 2014 and 2017.
The former Udinese defender joined the German powerhouses in 2014 after impressing in Italy, but also struggled for minutes at the club.
He won a first Bundesliga title in the 2014-15 season, which became two-in-row with another triumph in the 2015-16 season, before leaving the club for Juventus in 2017.
