The 2025-26 European club season got underway last August and will run through to May, with many African footballers looking to build on their performances from the previous campaign and lead their teams to success this time around.
Across Europe’s top leagues and beyond, several of these African players have enjoyed remarkable form and their consistency in front of goal has placed them firmly in contention for the golden boot awards in their respective leagues, while also pushing their club towards success.
Here is a look at the five leading African goalscorers across all competitions in Europe this season.
Paul Onuachu (23 goals)
In a surprising turn, a Nigerian striker not named Victor Osimhen leads the pack with Paul Onuachu sitting top as Africa’s highest goalscorer in Europe with an impressive 23 goals for Trabzonspor.
The 31-year-old returned to the club from Southampton last summer and has rediscovered his goalscoring form, netting 21 times so far in the Turkish Super League, which has put him in pole position to win the golden boot award.
Onuachu has also added two more goals to his tally in the Turkish Cup and has helped Trabzonspor remain in contention to secure a finish in an European spot at the end of the campaign.

Victor Osimhen (19 goals)
Closely following his Nigerian teammate, Victor Osimhen has already scored 19 goals across all competitions for Galatasaray this season and is the second highest-scoring African footballer across all competitions this season.
While he has yet to match the historic goalscoring feats of his debut season in Turkey, the former Napoli striker has managed 12 goals in the Turkish Super League, while adding another seven in the UEFA Champions League, making him Africa’s highest goalscorer in the competition this season.
Osimhen also bagged four Player of the Match awards in 10 appearances for Galatasaray in the Champions League this season, the joint-most of any player in the competition this season alongside Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.

Yanis Begraoui (17 goals)
Another surprising name on this list, France-born forward Yanis Begraoui who plays for the Morocco U-23 team ranks third on this list with 17 goals across all competitions this season.
The 24-year-old moved to Portuguese club Estoril Praia in 2024, but managed just 11 goals in his debut campaign. However, he has scored 17 times for the club this season and has attracted interest from clubs in Europe’s top five leagues with his impressive goalscoring form.
Begraoui has also caught the eyes of the Morocco senior team and is in contention to make the Atlas Lions’ squad for the FIFA World Cup, which commences in June.

Antoine Semenyo (17 goals)
Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has also scored 17 times across all competitions this season and ranks as number four on this list. The 26-year-old enjoyed an impressive first half of the season with Bournemouth and has carried that form to Manchester City, after making a transfer during the winter transfer window.
Semenyo has also scored 15 of his goals in the Premier League, a tally only bettered by Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland (22) and Brentford striker Igor Thiago (19).

Serhou Guirassy (17 goals)
Guinea international Sehrou Guirassy completes this list with 17 goals across all competitions for German side Borussia Dortmund.
The 30-year-old has struggled to match last season’s exploits, but has still managed 12 goals in the Bundesliga, with only Harry Kane (30), Denis Undav (16) and Luis Diaz (15) ahead of him.
Guirassy also scored four times for Dortmund in the Champions League, before their elimination at the hands of Atalanta in the playoff phase.
