The Turkish Super League, Turkey’s top-tier professional football division, has given Nigerian players the platform to shine over the years, with many producing outstanding displays that have helped their teams succeed in the league.

From Galatasaray talisman Victor Osimhen, who secured a move to the club on a permanent basis, to experienced midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who joined Besiktas, the 2025/26 season promises to be an exciting season with several familiar Nigerian talents on display.

This list explores the top four Super Eagles stars to watch out for.

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, completed a permanent move worth up to €75 million to Galatasaray from Napoli last month, after an impressive campaign in the 2024/25 season.

He netted 26 goals in the league to win the Turkish golden boot and with 37 goals in all competitions, the 26-year-old became the outright record holder for most goals scored by a foreign player in the Turkish league, surpassing Mario Jardel’s longstanding record.

After missing Galatasaray’s season opener with fitness concerns, Osimhen is now eyeing Tanju Colak’s 39-goal record and lead his team to a successful title defense.

Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor)

After an underwhelming spell in the English Premier League with Southampton, Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu completed a permanent move to Trabzonspor earlier in the summer, for a second stint at the club after an impressive loan spell in the 2023/24 campaign, where he netted 17 goals and provided four assists in all competitions.

The 6 ft 7 forward opened his account for his new side in their season opening 1-0 win over Kocaelispor and will be expected to battle Osimhen for the golden boot prize.

Wilfred Ndidi (Besiktas)

Super Eagles midfield stalwart Wilfred Ndidi joined Besiktas after eight and a half years in England with Leicester City. The midfielder’s experience and leadership will be important for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, as they look to compete with Galatasaray for the league title.

Ndidi’s ability to shield the backline and break opposition attack could also be vital in Besiktas’ quest to win a first league title since 2021.

Henry Onyekuru (Genclerbiligi)

Super Eagles winger Henry Onyekuru secured a return to the Turkish top-flight by joining newly-promoted Genclerbiligi in July.

Known for his pace and trickery, Onyekuru brings a different dimension to the attack and will be a major threat against defenders in the season.

Last campaign, Onyekuru played for Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia, a team he featured for since 2023, when he joined from Turkish side Adana Demirspor in 2023.
