Several clubs in the UAE Pro League have expressed interest in signing Ghana international Gideon Mensah, but the left-back’s priority remains staying in Europe, a source has told Footy-Africa.
The 27-year-old is set to become a free agent after the expiration of his contract with French side Auxerre at the end of June 2026.
Sources say clubs from the UAE have made enquiries about Mensah’s availability, but his representatives are focused on securing the best possible opportunity in Europe before considering other options.
Mensah joined Auxerre in 2022 on an initial three-year contract before extending his stay by a further year. During his time in France, he established himself as one of the club’s key players and has continued to impress with his consistency.

The defender is also a regular for Ghana and has retained his place in the Black Stars starting XI at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With his contract nearing its end and no extension agreed, Mensah is now free to assess his options ahead of the 2026/27 season. His availability on a free transfer is expected to attract further interest in the coming weeks as clubs look to strengthen their squads without paying a transfer fee.
