English Championship (second division) side Wrexham AFC have joined Spanish Segunda outfit SD Huesca in the scramble to sign Ghanaian international and winger Tariqe Fosu, Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.

Huesca made the first approach as they tabled a three-year contract to the 29-year-old versatile attacker. However, Wrexham have joined the race, with optimism that they will secure his signature, before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, a source at Fosu’s representing entity, Elite Project Group Limited, revealed that Wrexham are the latest to show interest and make contact. The latter have apparently tabled better terms as compared to Huesca.

“Wrexham have hijacked Fosu’s deal to Huesca, as it was headed in the final stages. They (Wrexham) are determined to match and exceed Huesca’s offer, despite both teams tabling a three-year contract to the player. He (Fosu) is taking his time to make a decision, as he explores the best deal for his career,” the exclusive source told Footy-Africa.

Huesca Make Move for Ghanaian Winger Tariqe Fosu

Fosu, whose transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €400,000, made 37 appearances last season across all competitions at Northampton. He played 56 games across his two-year spell at the club. Previously, he has played for Stoke City, Brentford, Oxford United, Charlton Athletic, Colchester United and Reading.

Meanwhile, internationally, Fosu made his debut for the Ghana national senior team, the Black Stars in 2020, and he has since made four competitive caps in the senior team colours. He also previously played for England’s U18 team in his earlier years, before making the switch to Ghana for senior international football.
