Zambia U-17 striker Abel Salim Nyirongo is edging closer to a potential move to Brighton and Hove Albion after undergoing trials in England, Footy-Africa exclusively reports.
Sources have confirmed that the 17-year-old striker, who is still in England, has been assessed by two Premier League sides, including Brighton, and is now awaiting feedback, with a move to the Seagulls understood to be a strong possibility.
Nyirongo’s trial comes on the back of an outstanding 2024 season in which he played a decisive role in Zambia’s triumphant COSAFA U-17 Championship campaign. He finished the tournament as top scorer with seven goals, earning the Golden Boot and helping the team secure qualification for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

At the U-17 AFCON, Nyirongo continued his prolific form, scoring twice and providing one assist as Zambia reached the quarterfinals and booked a place at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scheduled for November in Qatar.
A product of Atletico Lusaka, Nyirongo was most recently training with Italian Serie A side Cagliari before attracting interest from clubs in the English top flight.
