Belgian Pro League side Zulte Waregem have made contact with the camp of Asante Kotoko winger Peter Amidu Acquah, Footy-Africa understands, throwing the youngster’s future into fresh uncertainty as renewal talks with the Ghanaian giants continue to drag.
The 19-year-old has been one of Kotoko’s standout performers over the last two seasons, and his strong start to the current campaign has only heightened interest from abroad. With Acquah yet to agree on a contract extension, Zulte’s approach has intensified the pressure on Kotoko, who are still pushing to tie down the electrifying winger.
An exclusive source close to the player told Footy-Africa:
“Zulte Waregem have reached out and they’re serious about monitoring Peter. It’s an attractive option because they have a good record with young African players. But he’s taking his time. Kotoko want him to stay, the offers are coming in and he has to weigh everything carefully.”

Asante Kotoko remain adamant that Acquah is central to their project and have tabled a fresh proposal to keep him in Kumasi.
However, if both parties fail to find common ground, the youngster will be free to leave at the end of his current deal. Acquah joined Kotoko in 2023 under then coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and quickly rose to become a key member of the squad.

This season, the winger has made four Ghana Premier League appearances out of five, scoring twice, and featured in all four of Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup matches before their early exit. Overall, he has tallied 63 games in Kotoko colours, scoring seven goals and supplying three assists.
