Former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju, in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa he expects the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga to intervene and investigate the incident involving Nigerian stars Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.
The duo were among the Sevilla players who were accosted by fans of the club after a loss to bottom side Real Oviedo, a result that left the team hovering just two places above the relegation zone.

Akor and Ejuke, along with other players, faced intimidation and harassment from fans who were visibly upset about the clubโs recent run of poor results. With La Liga entering its decisive run-in, Sevilla are now in a race against time to salvage their season, and the fans clearly feel the players are not pulling their weight.
Adepoju, who played in Spain for Real Madrid Castilla and Real Sociedad, believes players must be protected at all times and has called on the authorities to thoroughly investigate what transpired between the players and the fans.
“It is not a nice thing to hear when fans have to harass or accost players. I do not think anyone should be subjected to such,โ the AFCON 1994 winner said. “I do not have all the details yet, but I donโt think it should go that far. The fans or supporters have the right to be aggrieved at how results come or how their team is faring, but they should not go as far as intimidating the players and coaches.”
“I have not spoken to both players yet, but I hope they are okay. I also want the authorities in Spain to launch an investigation into the incident. Football should be enjoyed by all, and this incident is unfortunate. I hope everything can be resolved, and the players can also help Sevilla while the fans continue to support them in the right way,” Adepoju added.
The club currently sit in 17th place with 31 points from 30 games, a position that has left supporters deeply concerned.
