Olisa Ndah is closing in on a move to Libya, with his representative Mike Makaab exclusively confirming to Footy-Africa that negotiations for the Nigerian defender are now at an advanced stage.

The former Orlando Pirates centre-back has been searching for a new club after his short spell with Stellenbosch FC came to an end, with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns also failing to materialise.

Footy-Africa understands that Libya has emerged as the most likely destination for the 28-year-old, who is now edging closer to securing the next chapter of his career.

Asked for an update on the negotiations, Makaab told Footy-Africa: “We are working on a deal for him in Libya. The deal is very close.”

The latest confirmation represents a significant development in Ndah’s search for a new club.

Agent explains why Olisa Ndah is unlikely to join Mamelodi Sundowns

Makaab had previously revealed that his client was considering opportunities outside South Africa, particularly after the proposed move to Sundowns failed to progress.

The South African champions had shown interest in Ndah as they looked to strengthen their defensive options, but the deal was ultimately affected by registration considerations surrounding the club’s foreign-player quota.

That setback left Ndah and his representatives looking at alternatives, with Libya becoming increasingly prominent in their plans.

‘Nothing concrete’ – Olisa Ndah’s agent reacts to Mamelodi Sundowns’ interest

The defender’s immediate priority is now understood to be securing regular football and getting his career moving again after a difficult period affected by injuries and limited playing time.

Ndah made his name at Orlando Pirates after joining the Soweto giants from Nigerian side Akwa United in 2021. He went on to make 81 appearances for Pirates across competitions and was part of a team that enjoyed considerable success during his time at the club, winning multiple trophies. After leaving Pirates, Ndah joined Stellenbosch FC on a short-term arrangement but made only seven appearances before departing the club.

A move to Libya would give the Nigeria international an opportunity to start afresh and potentially play a more prominent role.

The identity of the Libyan club involved in the negotiations has not been disclosed, but Makaab’s latest comments suggest that the two parties are now close to reaching an agreement.

For Ndah, the potential move also comes with a major career decision.

His departure from South Africa would end his five-year stay in the country and, according to recent reports, could also affect his eligibility to pursue South African citizenship after spending the required period in the country.

Agent unsure whether Olisa Ndah will remain in South Africa

But with his agent stressing that the Libya deal is “very close”, the focus for Ndah is now firmly on securing his next club.

The transfer has yet to be officially completed, but Footy-Africa understands that negotiations have advanced considerably and the Nigerian defender is edging closer to a move to Libya.
