Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer chose to join FSV Mainz 05 after the Bundesliga side convinced the Ghana forward that he would receive regular playing time, a source close to the player exclusively told Footy-Africa.
The 24-year-old completed his move from Hamburger SV despite attracting interest from several clubs, including RB Leipzig, OGC Nice and Middlesbrough.
Speaking to Footy-Africa, the source revealed that Königsdörffer and his representatives carefully considered all available options before deciding that remaining in Germany was the best move for his career.

According to the source, Mainz’s commitment to giving the Ghana international consistent first-team opportunities proved decisive in the player’s final decision.
“Ransford has been pushing to leave the club since last year,” the source confirmed.
The source added that while interest from Leipzig was welcomed, Mainz offered stronger assurances regarding the player’s role within the team and his long-term development.

Königsdörffer had previously come close to joining Nice, but the transfer collapsed after he failed a medical examination.
Despite that setback, plans for the attacker to leave Hamburg remained in place, with all parties expecting him to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
The move finally brings an end to months of uncertainty surrounding the Ghanaian forward’s future.
Königsdörffer joins Mainz after scoring five goals in 33 league appearances last season and will now look to establish himself as a regular starter at the Bundesliga club.
