Ugandan striker Charles Lwanga is set to leave SC Villa at the end of the 2025/26 season after contract extension talks between both parties broke down, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Sources close to the negotiations have disclosed that discussions over a new deal stalled after the record Uganda Premier League champions failed to meet the forwardโs financial expectations. Villa also reportedly could not assure the striker of a more prominent role in the squad going into next season.
The development has opened the door for several interested clubs, with newly crowned Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC emerging as the frontrunners to secure his signature ahead of the new campaign.

Lwanga has endured a frustrating season in terms of playing time at Villa Park, but the forward still delivered whenever called upon. Despite limited opportunities, he managed six goals in just nine appearances during the 2025/26 campaign, underlining his efficiency in front of goal.
Over the last three seasons, the striker has built a strong reputation as one of the leagueโs dependable attackers, scoring 38 goals in 94 matches across all competitions.
Before joining Villa, Lwanga previously featured for fellow Ugandan giants KCCA FC, where he also enjoyed productive spells in the Uganda Premier League.
Vipers are believed to view the experienced forward as an important addition to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next seasonโs domestic title defence and continental assignments.
With the season nearing its conclusion, Lwangaโs future is expected to become one of the major talking points in the Ugandan transfer market, especially with Villa now appearing resigned to losing one of their most clinical forwards.
