The 2025/26 season has come to an end across much of Europe and beyond, leaving several Zambian internationals approaching a crucial crossroads in their careers as their contracts near expiration.
While some have already been informed that they will be moving on, others are still awaiting clarity over their futures ahead of the new campaign.
Patson Daka
Among the biggest names on the list is Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka, the club has already confirmed whose departure from Leicester City.
Daka joined the English side in 2021 from Austrian champions RB Salzburg in a record-breaking move for a Zambian player. During his five-year spell with the Foxes, he made 165 appearances, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists.

Although he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, Daka delivered several memorable performances, including a four-goal haul in the UEFA Europa League and important goals in domestic competitions. At 27, the striker is expected to attract interest from clubs across Europe and the Middle East.
Fashion Sakala
Fashion Sakala is another player whose future will be closely watched.
The forward joined Saudi Pro League side Al Fayha in August 2023 and has since become one of the club’s most influential attacking players. In 105 appearances, Sakala has scored 43 goals and registered 19 assists.
His consistent performances have enhanced his reputation in Saudi Arabia and made him one of Zambia’s most productive players abroad.
Saudi stay or Europe return? Fashion Sakala to decide future
With his contract entering its final phase, speculation is likely to grow over whether he extends his stay or seeks a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Lameck Banda
Lameck Banda‘s future at Italian side Lecce also remains uncertain.
The winger joined the Serie A outfit in 2022 and has gone on to make 109 appearances, contributing nine goals and 12 assists. His current contract is set to expire on June 30, 2026.
Known for his pace, direct running and work rate, Banda has become an important player for Lecce over the past four seasons. However, with his deal running down, the club faces a decision on whether to offer him a new contract or risk losing him as a free agent.
Chanka Zimba
Young striker Chanka Zimba is already preparing for life away from Inverness Caledonian Thistle after the Scottish club confirmed that he will leave at the end of his contract.
Zimba joined Inverness in August 2025 and enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 19 goals and contributing four assists in 43 appearances.
His performances quickly made him one of the club’s key attacking players and have boosted his stock ahead of the next transfer window.
Given his age and goalscoring record, the former Zambia Under-20 international is expected to attract significant interest.
Jack Lahne
Jack Lahne is also approaching the end of his current deal with Austrian side Austria Lustenau.
The forward joined the club in January 2025 and has managed 12 goals in 43 appearances. His contract is due to expire on June 30, 2026.
While his future remains unresolved, Lahne has shown flashes of quality during his time in Austria and will be hoping to secure a contract extension or a move that allows him to continue his development.

As the transfer window gathers momentum, the futures of these five Zambian players will be among the stories to watch.
