Ivory Coast will look to book their place in their next round with a favourable result when they face 2014 World Cup champions Germany on match-day two at the ongoing Mundial.
Ayomide Oguntimehin provides more insight into the June 20 clash at the Toronto Stadium.
Germany vs Ivory Coast match preview
Germany enter this clash on the back of a dominant 7-1 win over Curacao in their opening match last weekend. The four-time World champions had suffered shock group stage exits at the last two World Cup edition and can now book their spot in the knockout for the first time since 2014 with a good result against Ivory Coast. Kai Havertz (2), Nico Schlotterbeck, Felix Nmecha, Nathaniel Brown, Jamal Musiala and Denis Undaz were all on the scoresheet as they scored seven for a first time since thrashing Brazil in the semifinals of the 2014 edition.
Ivory Coast, meanwhile, kicked off their campaign with a hard-earned 1-0 win over Ecuador in their opening match. The Elephants only scored through substitute Amad Diallo on the stroke of fulltime to seal victory. RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande was a threat throughout the encounter and gave Ecuador defender Piero Hincapie a tough time on the night. A draw could be enough to seal their place in the next round, but they will be hoping to defeat Germany to stand a chance of finishing top of the group and sealing a favourable draw in the Round of 32.

Player to watch
Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast)
Amad Diallo has been in fine form for Ivory Coast in recent games and has scored three times in as many matches including the winner against Ecuador in their opener.
The Manchester United winger could be handed a starting role against Germany and his dribbling skills and pace would cause their defence real problem in the clash.
