Belgian giants Club Brugge have made a late attempt to hijack Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh’s impending transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, but the Belgian club faces a difficult task in matching the financial package already on the table, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

According to sources close to the deal, Club Brugge recently entered the race and is pushing to convince both the player and his club to reconsider the move. However, the Belgian side remains far from matching the financial proposal offered by the Saudi club.

Al Ahli has submitted a record-breaking €7 million transfer offer to Tromsø, a figure that would represent one of the most significant sales in the Norwegian club’s history. The Saudi Pro League side has also offered the player a lucrative five-year contract reportedly worth $20 million, making the deal extremely difficult for European competitors to rival.

The player’s representative, former professional footballer and current agent Cherno Samba, has confirmed interest from Club Brugge while dismissing reports linking his client with other clubs. In particular, he denied reports on Strasbourg being interested in the player and ready to make a move.

The 19-year-old Gambian prospect has emerged as one of the most sought-after young players following an outstanding season with Norwegian side Tromsø. His performances have attracted interest from several clubs, with Al Ahli moving quickly to secure an agreement for his services.

Despite the late intervention from the Belgian side, preparations for the move to Saudi Arabia are progressing. Kinteh and his agent are expected to travel to Lisbon, Portugal, in the coming days to undergo medical examinations ahead of the official completion of the transfer.

The teenager’s rise has been remarkable. During the 2025/26 season, he made 33 appearances for Tromsø and delivered a series of impressive performances backed by strong underlying statistics. His displays quickly established him as one of the most exciting young talents in Scandinavian football and attracted attention from clubs across multiple leagues.

Kinteh’s move to FC Köln hinges, Leeds and Saudi Arabian giants still in the race

While Club Brugge continues to explore the possibility of a last-minute breakthrough, Al Ahli remains firmly in pole position to secure the highly rated youngster’s signature.
