Celtic have not completely ruled out offering Kelechi Iheanacho a new contract, despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Nigerian forward’s future at Parkhead, Footy-Africa understands.
Iheanacho’s future has remained a subject of speculation in recent weeks, with several clubs monitoring his situation. Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama were reportedly linked with a move for the former Leicester City striker, but the club ultimately decided against pursuing a deal.
However, Footy-Africa can exclusively report that Celtic have not entirely moved on from the possibility of retaining Iheanacho. Sources indicate that while opinion within the club remains divided, there are influential figures who would still like to see the Nigeria international remain at Parkhead.
A final decision is expected in the coming days as Celtic continue to assess their attacking options ahead of the new season. The club are actively exploring alternative striker targets, with Iheanacho viewed as one of several candidates under consideration rather than the preferred option.

Financial considerations could also play a role in the outcome. Should Celtic fail to secure one of their primary targets, the chances of Iheanacho being offered a fresh deal could increase.
The player himself is understood to be keen on extending his stay in Glasgow, but any decision will ultimately rest with the club.
If Celtic decide against offering new terms, clubs in the Turkish Super Lig, Saudi Pro League and the English Championship are all believed to be monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old spent last season with the Scottish champions after arriving following an unsuccessful spell with Spanish side Sevilla. Although injuries hampered his start to life in Glasgow, Iheanacho recovered to make a significant contribution during the latter stages of the campaign as Celtic secured a domestic double, edging Hearts to the Scottish Premiership title before lifting the Scottish Cup.
Iheanacho previously enjoyed successful spells with Manchester City and Leicester City, and remains eager to secure regular first-team football as he enters the next stage of his career.
