German-born Gambian midfielder Nuha Jatta in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has expressed his excitement after having officially completed a permanent move to Portuguese Liga 2 side S.C.U. Torreense, signing a three-year contract with the club after leaving German Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart.
“I am really excited and happy to be here. I hope that I can help the team get promoted to the First League and perform well in the Europa League.”
Beyond his club ambitions, Jatta also addressed his international future, confirming that he is open to representing The Gambia despite having represented Germany at youth level.
Asked whether he would be willing to play for the Scorpions, the midfielder left little doubt about his intentions.
“Yeah, of course. I am open to represent The Gambia. I have been there many times and I also have family there.”

His comments will be welcomed by Gambian football supporters, with Jatta regarded as one of several dual-nationality players who could strengthen the country’s national team in the coming years.
The 20-year-old arrives in Portugal following a season with Stuttgart’s Under-21 side, where he made eight appearances and scored one goal in Germany’s 3. Liga. He joined Stuttgart from RB Leipzig last summer after previously spending part of the 2024/25 season on loan at Italian club Torino, continuing his development across some of Europe’s most competitive football environments.
Jatta now embarks on a new challenge with Torreense, where he will link up with fellow Gambian Musa Drammeh. The Portuguese club is preparing for an exciting campaign as it targets promotion to the Primeira Liga while also competing in the UEFA Europa League after winning the Portuguese FA Cup last season.
The move to Torreense offers the talented midfielder an opportunity to establish himself in senior football while competing on both the domestic and European stages. With regular playing time and UEFA Europa League football on offer, the Portuguese club provides an ideal platform for the next phase of his development.
