Uganda Premier League heavyweights KCCA FC are working on a deal to bring striker John Paul Dembe back to the club, with negotiations already underway over a possible return to Lugogo, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Footy-Africa has established that talks between KCCA and the 21-year-old forward’s representatives have already taken place, as the Kasasiro Boys intensify efforts to reinforce their attacking options before the start of the new campaign.
Sources indicate that KCCA have tabled a two-year contract as they seek to convince the former academy graduate to begin a second spell with the club.
Dembe departed KCCA in 2023 after sealing a move to Swedish champions BK Häcken, where he enjoyed a productive stint. The club’s triumph highlighted his time in Sweden in the 2024/25 Swedish Cup, with BK Häcken overcoming Malmö FF in a dramatic penalty shootout in the final.
Earlier this year, the Ugandan forward switched to Czech side SK Sigma Olomouc before returning home during the off-season break.
Sigma Olomouc edged Rizespor to secure Dembe in €1.5 million deal
A product of Uganda’s youth football ranks, Dembe has represented the nation at both the Uganda Cubs (U-17) and Uganda Hippos (U-20) levels, earning a reputation as one of the country’s promising attacking talents.
KCCA’s pursuit of Dembe comes amid an active recruitment drive. The club has already secured the services of midfielder Elvis Ngonde, striker Charles Lwanga and defender Maxwell Owachgiu as preparations for the new season gather momentum.
The Lugogo-based outfit has also retained defender Hassan Muhamud, who signed a one-year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2027. Meanwhile, midfielder Yunus Sibira has completed his medical examinations and is expected to be unveiled as the club’s latest signing in the coming days.
With more arrivals anticipated before the transfer window closes, KCCA remain determined to assemble a squad capable of ending an eight-year wait for major silverware.
