Footy-Africa can exclusively report that Nigeria midfielder Anthony Dennis could remain at Turkish club Göztepe until the closing stages of the transfer window.
Sources close to the negotiations have told Footy-Africa that Göztepe’s valuation of the 22-year-old has become the biggest obstacle to a transfer this summer.
Premier League side Coventry City, managed by Frank Lampard, have shown strong interest in Dennis but have so far been unable to reach an agreement with the Turkish Super Lig club.
Footy-Africa understands that Coventry have cooled their pursuit after becoming frustrated by the gap between the two clubs’ valuations.
Reports in Turkey have suggested Göztepe are demanding a fee of around €9 million for the midfielder, despite the player entering the final year of his contract.
Dennis signed a new three-year deal with Göztepe in 2024 after establishing himself in the first team following his arrival from Nigerian academy HB Academy.

As uncertainty over his future continues, Dennis has not featured in Göztepe’s pre-season fixtures, with the club keen to avoid risking an injury that could complicate any potential transfer.
Although Göztepe are aware they risk losing the midfielder for a reduced fee as he approaches the end of his contract, sources indicate the club are prepared to remain patient rather than accept an offer below their valuation, but there is also a slim chance of the player staying at the Club.
With several clubs still monitoring the situation, Dennis’ future is expected to remain one of the transfer window’s stories to watch before the deadline.
