The 2025/26 European club football season kickstarted in August, with several African stars eyeing impressive displays and achievements for their teams.

While some players secured high-profile moves to dream clubs in the summer transfer window, several others opted to remain at their clubs.

From Victor Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray in a Turkish league record fee, to Mohamed Salah, who remained at Liverpool after signing a new bumper deal, here are five African players who could end the season with the most goals.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Egyptian maestro Mohamed Salah broke multiple records in the 2024/25 campaign and will be eyeing a repeat of that feat in the current season. The 33-year-old netted 29 times in the EPL last season to win the golden boot award, and finished the season with 34 goals in all competitions.

Salah has started the new season slowly, but has already netted three times in all competitions, with two in the league. The Egyptian’s renowned goal scoring prowess makes him the top choice to finish as the highest scoring African in Europe.

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen shattered multiple records in his first season on loan at Galatasaray in the 2024/25 season, helping his side to the Turkish league and cup double titles.

The 26-year-old finished the season as the highest scoring African in Europe with 37 goals and earned a €75 million permanent move to the Lions this summer.

Now in his first full season, the Nigerian already has two goals to his name and has only been limited by injuries.

Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund)

Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy first rose to prominence at Stuttgart and enjoyed a very impressive debut campaign with Borussia Dortmund in the 2024/25 season. The 29-year-old ended the season with 34 goals in all competitions, netting a further four goals in the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer.

Guirassy also finished as joint-top scorer in the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona’s Raphinha and has continued from where he stopped in the previous campaign, netting five times in just six appearances this season.

Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United)

Cameroon winger Bryan Mbeumo’s impressive 2024/25 season with Brentford earned him a dream move to Manchester United in the summer.

The 26-year-old scored 20 goals in the EPL last season and has peaked into the new season, netting twice for his new team already.

Karl Etta Eyong (Cameroon)

A surprising inclusion on this list, exciting young forward Karl Etta Eyong earns a spot after a promising start to the 2025/26 season.

The 21-year-old made the switch to Levante in the Spanish La Liga and has scored four goals this season, only behind Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.
