Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, Dr Randy Abbey, has poured cold water on speculation linking Eddie Nketiah, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Francis Amuzu with imminent switches to represent Ghana, insisting there has been no official communication from any of the trio.
Rumours about the three foreign-born stars have gained momentum in recent weeks, particularly after Ghana sealed a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a crucial win over the Comoros earlier this month. All three players are eligible to feature for the West African nation, Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi having previously played for England, while Amuzu represented Belgium at youth level.
Nketiah, Acheampong and three other stars eligible for Ghana national team
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Dr Abbey clarified that, despite the public buzz, nothing concrete has been put before the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
“Officially, I’m not aware of Eddie Nketiah showing interest in the Black Stars. It’s the same for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Francis Amuzu. I only read about it in the media,” Abbey remarked.
Amuzu’s name has long hovered around the Ghana national team. In 2022, he was reportedly invited but did not join the squad, a decision later surrounded by conflicting reports. The forward has since reiterated his commitment to play for Ghana when the opportunity arises, stressing that his motivation extends beyond World Cup participation.
“If it’s for the World Cup, it will be nice,” Amuzu told Asempa. “If it’s after the World Cup, it’s also nice, I will be happy. It is a dream for me to play for the national team of Ghana. I also know that I have to perform well to get a call-up. If it [call-up] comes, good. If it doesn’t come, I have to work harder.”

Dr Abbey’s clarification effectively resets the narrative: while public enthusiasm over potential dual-national additions continues to build, the GFA remains in a waiting position, with no official moves yet from Nketiah, Hudson-Odoi, or Amuzu to pledge their allegiance to Ghana.
